Welcome to Postcards from Sara! I’m Sara, and I’m thrilled you’re here. If you’re visiting, it’s likely because you’re a fellow corporate girlie, always dreaming about the next adventure. I call Atlanta, Georgia my home—a vibrant city that boasts the World Series Champions, the Atlanta Braves, the global headquarters of Coca-Cola, a city steeped in the rich history of the Civil Rights Movement and is home to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is known as one of the busiest airports in the world. I share this beautiful city with my husband, Jake, and our adorable dog, Gracie. We live in Midtown, my absolute favorite neighborhood, and the best part is that it’s just a quick 20-minute ride to the airport, making those spontaneous trips a breeze!
Some of my most cherished memories from childhood revolve around loading up in the car for exciting adventures with my family. I can still picture the lively chaos of my siblings and me bickering over who would claim the coveted backseat, while my parents and grandparents orchestrated our journeys. Although my adventures today are less about sibling squabbles and more about the joy of exploration, the thrill of packing for a new trip still fills me with warmth and nostalgia. Honestly, I often feel a little restless if I don’t have a getaway on the horizon—having something to look forward to is essential for my spirit.
After months of hesitation, stopping and starting on social media, and countless prayers about whether to start this blog, I received a voicemail from a dear friend that changed everything for me. It had been a particularly challenging week at my corporate job, which I genuinely love most of the time. However, my nightly prayers had been filled with a yearning for guidance, asking God to provide me with a sign that it was time for a change in my life.
The following day, while I was slogging through my final Zoom meeting of the day—trying my hardest not to roll my eyes at the screen—my phone buzzed with a call from one of my best girlfriends from college, Brittany. In that moment, I ignored the call, thinking I would get back to her later. But when I listened to her voicemail, I realized it was the sign I had been waiting for.
“I just needed to call and tell you, I truly appreciate your planning skills, especially when it comes to trip planning and I’m just forever grateful.”
The voicemail left me feeling inspired and a bit teary-eyed, to be honest. My family and friends often chuckle at my enthusiasm, but I'm the one who jumps at the chance to plan a trip within days—sometimes even hours—of getting a hint that we might go somewhere. As a true Virgo, my analytical approach to life leads me to meticulously organize every last detail, all in the pursuit of crafting the “perfect” trip itinerary. I genuinely love a good spreadsheet!
I thrive on planning every detail of my adventures, while my family and friends prefer a more spontaneous, “Let’s see where the wind takes us!” approach. Together, we embark on trips that beautifully illustrate how you can have champagne tastes (that’s me!) on a budget (thank you, budget-conscious husband) while still leaving plenty of time to wander and explore! It’s all about balancing our different styles to create unforgettable memories.
We've touched on my love for details, planning, spreadsheets, and, of course, champagne, but there's so much more to me! You can often find me:
Relaxing on the balcony with a good book, diving into my favorite spy series while soaking in the skyline views.
Exploring the beautiful trails of Piedmont Park with my furry companion, Gracie.
Trying out new restaurants with Jake, where we love to discover hidden gems and share our culinary adventures.
Hosting game nights filled with laughter and friendly competition with friends and family.
Romanticizing my commute to work on my bike
Interwoven through all these moments is my passion for travel. I’m always thinking about our next adventure—how can we make it more efficient to maximize our time? What should I pack to ensure I have everything I need? Is my travel go-bag stocked and ready for the excitement ahead? These details keep my spirit alive and my wanderlust thriving!
So, you might be wondering where the name “Postcards from Sara” came from. Well, let me tell you, that’s a story for another time! I promise it’s a good one, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
PS: I can't imagine ever deleting that voicemail—the one that truly changed everything for me.
